Research Focus

My research activities started during my PhD working in ruminant production and rumen fermentation (2001-2005). Afterwards, I have been involved in projects studying the yeast mode of action in ruminants and monogastrics (2005-2008). Since 2008 I have been working in animal nutrition and animal welfare. Nowadays, I am conducting research on feed additives to improve the gut health and productivity of cattle, pigs and pets; on by-products evaluation to improve the feed efficiency of pigs, broilers and beef cattle; on compost bedding system to improve welfare of dairy cattle; and on dairy farm and pig farm computational simulators. Currently I also have special interests in smart-farms using animal nutrition, management and welfare.
